Just Google It

Whether you’re trying to diffuse conflict (30 seconds is designed to ruin friendships), looking for the meaning behind the ever so slightly superstitious action that could have just change your life forever (we all know you’ve done it) or doing research for a paper (something a little more intelligent and probably the reason why the search engine was originally developed), Google has all the answers.

Incredible, isn’t it? Think of anything, absolutely anything and voilà, Google will give you something. (Side note: don’t ever Google why Cornflakes were invented, it’s weird)

Finding your match

Now, it’s one thing to be the ‘searcher’ and just click, click, click (could read: swipe or scroll) until you find the answer you are looking for, but there is a whole new world where businesses and entrepreneurs are trying to find their space in their industry via means of their websites. You created your business for a reason, you had a purpose to fulfil, there was a gap, a need, something someone is looking for. Now prove yourself. You’ve got to make a good impression, first time. Internet users are quick, fickle, stealthy and looking for the next big thing, or dare we say it, better thing.

Sounds like dating doesn’t it?

…It’s exactly like dating. You search, you find… or you search, and you don’t find, and then you give up. Eish, sounds a bit cynical. But here’s the truth:

  • If you’re not on page 1 of Google, sorry mate, it’s over for you.
  • 50% of Google searches don’t result in a click through to the content provided, that means that the value you have-to add is just, well, not good enough.
  • Your page description is like your Tinder Bio. Not enough for a swipe? Toodles.
  • Internet users are sceptical of Ads. Yes, there is huge value in using them to increase online presence but you’re going to have to put in a bit more effort.
  • People get bored. SO QUICKLY! Keep things fresh. From web design (looks) and content (intellect), you’ll eventually find your match.
  • There are plenty of fish in the sea… If you aren’t going to provide the product or service, someone else will. The internet is saturated with variety, options, plan B’s. So, know who you want, know what they want and give it to them.

Here’s what you gotta do…

It’s not all doom and gloom, thank goodness for that right?

  1. Put your brand where customers can find you, naturally. Rank higher on organic searches. Realise the power of a link building strategy and content marketing plans to direct relevant traffic to your website. Be there at the exact moment people are looking for what you have to offer through Search Engine Optimisation and Keyword Bidding.
  2. Don’t let poor website speeds, page load times and crawl issues bring your returns down.
  3. Understand which keywords will get the best results. Then, strategize and prioritise your SEO marketing strategy to match.

Be the link that connects the right people to the right information at the right time. It’s all about timing and what you have to offer and then obviously, the way you showcase it 😉

If you don’t believe me, then just Google it.

Actually not this heartless,

Love,

Jess
